The Diamond Piece: How it all began 

The story revolves around the lives of pupils in an imaginary Moonlight City Middle School. This is an international school in Enegia. The school is elitist and the pupils are mainly sons and daughters of prominent people who live in the capital. The pupils exhibit familiar teenage behaviour – mischief, rivalry, competition, taunts, lies and bragging. Yet, in the extra-terrestrial realm, are the Masekians whose earlier attempt to attack Earth, got botched up.

This time round, they are plotting to hit the Earthlings once and for all. However, Funky Firey, the captain who is to head this mission, just like his father earlier, is not keen to destroy the earth’s beings. Reason? He does not believe in a fight where the ground is not level. The Earthlings cannot match the might of the Masekians, which is just too superior.

Additionally, the Earthlings are not prepared for any battle at the moment.  Firey and his two comrades who set for mission Earth change the plans, and decide to equip the Earthlings for possible attacks from Masekians. To achieve this, they have to warn them of possible attacks, and imbue them with some Masekian strength. This is not an easy task considering that the Masekian trio must transform themselves into very tiny objects, and penetrate the body of a person of their choice, in order to carry out this chemistry.

Their candidate for this chemical change is Zack, a mischievous boy at Moonlight City Middle School. They penetrate him through a bruise on his arm, but the chemical change of Zack is not very successful. This is because he already has a potent, Masekian component on his arm, thus, a piece of diamond. Intriguingly, Zack is not aware of this diamond, as he got it through a bruise in his arm from an earlier accident.

After the Masekians have revealed the secrets to Zack and imbued him with their planet’s chemical, DAIJ, they disappear into thin air. Back in Sekai, the planet of Masekians, Firey’s betrayal has been unearthed. Plans are underway to kill him and vanquish the Earthlings to the last man.   

The structure: The book is divided in relatively short and realistic chapters. The plot, though simple, is built upon interesting digressions, which nonetheless leave it well-knit.. The ending of this story is yet the beginning of another book, since the story is produced in a series.   

Target readership: Mainly young people, teenagers to young adults. This group will certainly find the book an interesting read, because its prism of focus is generally in consort with their taste, language and ideas.
